"Museum's Island" (above ) and the cathedral by it's side (below) - Isla de los museos / Catedral ...typical big city bustle (cars speeding by on the corner of Friedrichstr/Oranienburger Straße)... and the main station. In a town like Berlin, which has history buried literally around every corner, there are also lesser known or touristic sites than these famous landmarks. One such example of the city's often dark history is the "Geschichtspark Ehemaliges Zellengefängnis Moabit", which used to be the site of a former prison. Dating back to the 1840s, it was demolished in 1957 and the park now stands as a memorial site, dedicated to all those who suffered on its grounds, especially during the 1940s. Located directly oposite to the city's main station, many people walk through the park, using it as a shortcut on their way to the train station. Myself included, which is how the place caught my attention. Antes el sitio de un carcél, este parque ya es un memorial, dedicado a todos que sufrieron en sus muros. On a less serious, more picturesque note, below is the Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt: and of course the number one sight, brightly lit Brandenburger Tor. Called "Eastside Gallery", a stretch of the Berlin Wall now showcases as a site of graffiti art... Wall and iPhone, symbols of 20st Century authoritarian communism and 21st century consumerism, are now next-door neighbors. Turning around, you can look across the river... ...is serious business that apparently has to be taken care of as soon as possible! At least Castellón city planners seem to think so. Really? Me saying this when December has finally begun? Well, thing is, those photos are already around for some time. Taken during the first November week - so a huge amount of neon decorations were placed all over the city very early on. It seemed a bit strange seeing them there for nearly a month, without being lit. Now, however, they've finally been switched on and were all aglow for the first time this week. Some pics of that will follow for sure!
So what was that thing everyone was talking about some two weeks or so ago? Oh right! The moon was supposed to be larger than usual. Well, what I saw through my camera lens is what you can see here. Oh and, by the way, the nice city with palm trees and a castle watching over it's coast is Alicante.
